Our Vehicles

We will travel in our custom built overland truck. The body of the truck is cleverly designed to offer a sociable seating area with comfortable coach seats and easy access to personal belongings even when the truck is moving. There are separate lockers for tents, cooking gear, firewood, water, etc accessible from the outside. Large opening windows in the front and sides allow good vision. Inside there is a stereo for plugging your MP3 into, lighting and 12v and 240v recharging points for your cameras, etc (sorry no hairdryers, though). There is a special compartment for safely storing a few surfboards.

We have boxes and cool boxes for food, tables, kitchen equipment, plates, cups, cutlery, large gas cookers and some trucks even have an oven. Over 400litres of water is carried for cooking and cleaning. There are stools for everyone to sit on whilst eating or enjoying the fire.

All trucks have a good first aid kit (although everyone should bring their own personal kit as well) and fire extinguishers for the rear, cab and kitchen areas.

One huge advantage of overland travel is that you always have a secure place to keep your belongings - the truck sides are solid (not canvas), the door is lockable, and padlocked metal strongboxes for your valuables are hidden inside.

South America Overland own all of their vehicles and our staff are responsible for all upkeep and safety checks. This allows us to ensure our vehicles are always maintained to a high standard.

We use Mercedes Benz trucks with strong V8 diesel engines, and always carry a full selection of tools and spare parts as well as long-range fuel tanks, extra tyres and digging/building equipment with sand mats for those particularly interesting journeys!
